The right tool for square head bolts and square nuts, and a must for our Doorscrews. These are somewhat more difficult to find nowadays as only about half as many brands are on the market. Stanley has discontinued their 8-point sockets; but we have managed to pick up a few at reasonable prices. The brands we are currently aware of are Craftsman, Proto, Snap-On, Wright, Westward and Williams. We will stock the Stanleyand Craftsman sockets as long as we can continue to buy them at reasonable prices; then we will stock Westward and Williams. Only Williams and Wright make nearly all the sizes, but we only stock the sizes that others don't have, as the Wrights are more expensive. Wright sockets are available individually; Williams sockets are available individually and in sets. Wright and Williams are both made in the USA.
For those who regularly use a wide range of 8-point sockets, The Williams 1/2" Drive, Set of 14 Sockets, from 3/8" to 1-1/4", is an especially good buy. Adding up the 14 individual socket prices yields a total of $220.95. The Williams set is only $174.95, and includes two wall mounting rails with clips. You will find it toward the bottom of the table.
8-Point IMPACT Sockets
If you need to drive the larger lags with power or impact drivers, we now have the most popular/practical sizes of 8-point IMPACT Sockets in stock. There are only two domestic manufacturers of 8-Point Impact Sockets, Proto and Armstrong. FYI, Proto is now part of Snap-on Brands. We have chosen Proto because we are able to purchase more advantageously than from Armstrong. We have always considered Proto to be top of the line in sockets, including impact sockets.
You can find the IMPACT Sockets at the bottom of the page.....
